ISeeCars.Com Offers Used Car Buyers a ‘Moving Sale’ Option

Except for a somewhat unfortunate name, iseecars.com is a pretty good used car website. The name is unfortunate, in my humble opinion, because it reminds me of “I see dead people” from the movie, “The Sixth Sense.”

The site has some good features. Chief among them is the “moving sale” option. Punch in the type of used car you’re looking for and iseecars.com will “Search 1.5 million used cars for sale across 3000+ websites” with ad words related to moving. The idea is an owner is desperate to sell the car at a lower price because time is of the essence.

I also like the fact that site will link you to the KBB.com value for the vehicle. Used car sellers should hate that feature. As a test, I punched in a Jeep Grand Cherokee for a search in my area and one listing came back for a 2007 Grand Cherokee Laredo with an asking price a full $5000 above the KBB.com recommendation, or roughly 33% more than it was worth. On top of it, the seller was moving back to Germany (or so he claimed) within a week.

One weird little quirk is the site will pick up listings for all types of vehicles – and not just used cars as it claims. I clicked on “Eagle” and the site showed me boat, motorcycle and used car listings. I couldn’t see a way to filter out those other means of transportation. The developers do call this a “preview” version so maybe kinks like that will be worked out.

By the way, I’m not sure who on staff owned one, but the site allows you to search for AM General, the original maker of the Humvee. As I write this, there are none for sale in the U.S. However, there are more than 200 Daewoos listed.
