It's so rare to be on the cusp of breaking news on this website (by their very nature used cars are old news) but CarMD has this morning released its vehicle dependability study for used cars sold in the last 10 years.
The CarMD study is interesting because it ranks more than 900 used cars based on a formula the company developed from data compiled over the last 15 years. CarMD rightly calls it the first statistic based evaluation of used cars. Most other studies of this nature rely on consumer input and can't be as accurate as this one, which relies on input from ASE certified technicians.
I do have one gripe with the dependability study. Well, it's not with the actual study itself. It's the fact that CarMD won't release the worst 10 used cars on the list. The PR person for CarMD said the company only wants to focus on the positive. After all, the top 100 does represent roughly the top 10% of used cars.
But, I'm just dying to know what the worst used car on the market is. Have any ideas what it could be? If so, share your comments below.
