Buying a Used Car in Winter

By , About.com Guide   December 19, 2011

Follow me on:

Winter is nigh upon us, whatever the heck that means. Well, it does mean that soon enough I will be firing up the snow blower again. I had to once already this year on Oct. 30 of all days when a freak Nor'Easter blew through Connecticut and crippled us electrically for days in the midst of unseasonably warm weather.

Well that warm weather has departed. When I stepped out to throw away some trash last night, it hit me - cold air that is. Whacked me right across the face and somehow that got me thinking that winter is a lousy time to buy a used car. Who wants to trudge around in the gloop that is a wintry mix to buy a new ride?

It's not a lot of fun but with a little preparation (i.e. reading my tips on buying a used car in winter) you should be able to muster through and find the car of your dreams. Winter used car buying has its challenges but you should be able to surmount them easily enough.

OK, maybe now would be a good time for me to go check on the snow blower.
