Volkswagen has been having huge success on the new car side of dealerships so it needed to come up with something to do with all the used cars it was taking in trade. So it created the WorldAuto program that allows dealers to sell any used car from any brand as certified pre-owned.
There's one huge caveat. The program isn't directly backed by Volkswagen. Instead consumers are purchasing an insurance policy that backs the warrant costs. It's been my understanding that these programs can be difficult to use. On the plus side, under the warranty program, repairs can be made at more than 2000 repair facilities across the U.S. and Canada.
How about it? Have you purchased a used car through a certified pre-owned program like the one with the Motor Trend name stamped on it? Do these programs work? I'd love to hear from you what your experience has been.
