OK, so there was a presidential inauguration this month but for me the big news in January is shaping up to be airbag recalls. Add the 2003 and 2004 Toyota Corolla and Toyota Corolla Matrix to the list of airbag recalls.
As you may recall (no pun intended), Honda Odysseys and Honda Pilots were also recalled. Combined, the recall is for more than 1.5 million used cars. That's a big deal in my book.
What makes the situation even more disconcerting is the recalls are for what are considered the gold standard of used cars. There is nary a complaint to be had about the quality of these Toyota or Honda models. Frankly, if I was in the market, I'd be happy with any of them.
As always, airbag recalls are serious things. Make sure the work has been done before purchasing any used car with an airbag recall. Put the risk on the sellers' shoulders and not yours.
