Take Pictures of Your Used Car

Once your used car is spotless, take plenty of digital photos. You can e-mail them to prospective buyers.

Now that your car is this pristine, take lots of digital photos. Then, upload them to your computer.

  • Take honest photos. Don't touch them up in Photoshop.
  • Check out new car photos for inspiration on how to shoot pictures of your used car
  • Digital photos are cheap. Shoot pictures of every angle.
  • Here's a tip that goes against most photography advice. Shoot the pictures standing up. Unless you're selling a collectible, most people are going to view your used car standing up.
  • Shoot early morning or late afternoon when the sun is softer - but don't hide your car in the shadows.
  • Remove any bumper stickers from your car. You might turn off a John McCain fan if that Obama/Biden sticker is still on your car when it comes time to sell.
  • Take pictures of your car fresh from the car wash - but not in the car wash parking lot. That's too obvious.
  • Size the photos for emailing. Large images are irritating to download. Plus, smaller photos reveal fewer problems.
  • Don't send photos of expensive accessories. You're only tempting fate. In effect, you're creating visual temptation for a thief with a shopping list.
