NADAguides.com announced its list of the industry's Hidden Gems on Wednesday. The basic thinking behind the list is to showcase new cars and trucks that don’t get a lot of media hype and consumer interest, but are good values.
Its 5 gems, according to a news release on its website, are: Buick Enclave, Pontiac G5, Volkswagen CC, Lincoln MKS and Ford Fusion Hybrid. The Enclave, CC, MKS and Fusion Hybrid are too new to be good used car values, but the Pontiac G5 isn’t.
Right now is a great time to buy a used Pontiac. The market is depressed for the soon-to-be-orphan brand. This little coupe, first introduced in 2007, should cost you a lot less than $10,000 for the 2007 model. Plus, it gets average marks from Consumer Reports. Performance is fine and you’re getting a car that should be a bargain to insure.
What do you think? Is this a used car gem? Comment below.

I kinda disagree. The G5 is based on the Chevy Cobalt, which got lousy ratings in Consumer Reports tests, and got bad ratings in their owner satisfction listings. Also, Pontiac will soon be an orphan brand, which will cut the resale value should you decide to trade it in before the wheels fall off (I drive an Oldsmobile, I know about these things). On the other hand, it is a perfectly average car, perhaps at a less than average price.
