CarFax is out with a new mobile tool that I am in the process of testing out to see how well it works. I did a CarFax Q&A with Chris Basso, public relations manager for CarFax on the new tool that you might want to check out.
It's just amazing how the whole car buying process has changed. What got me thinking about it was I'm reading Stephen King's new book, "11/22/63," which has a used car transaction that figures into it. OK, not in a major way, but I don't want to spoil the plot for anybody.
Anyway, the main character buys a used car and negotiates the price. I swear on a stack of bibles that my first thought was, "How does he know what the car's worth?" Jake had just transported back in time from 2011 to 1958. Then, I thought, he didn't even get the car inspected.
Maybe with a better inspection he wouldn't have had the problems he did with the car. Of course, the story also would have lacked a necessary plot device, too.
Weird thing was I had all of these retro thoughts while reading the book on my iPhone Kindle app. So, that's what got me thinking about how great modern technology has been for buying a used car.
Once I get some more time to take the CarFax app for a spin, I'll let you know about it. In the meantime, I'll just go injecting thoughts about used cars in my daily life, even when reading novels set 53 years ago.
